DALLAS-BASED TRIO MELDS PUNK, ROCK AND METAL ON ITS THREE-TRACK EP THIS APRIL

From Parts Unknown celebrates its third riotous release at Three Links Deep Ellum on April 28

(DALLAS, April 2017; source: CultureHype) Dallas-bred rock trio From Parts Unknown is set to release its third album “Trucker Speed” on Friday, April 28. The EP features three rambunctious tracks tackling topics like substance abuse, tumultuous relationships, transient life as a traveling musician and poverty. It serves as a bridge between their 2016 album titled “Bruiser” and their upcoming third release, out later this fall. The band melds rock, punk and metal in a thrilling and dynamic high energy live show. The EP release party on Thursday, April 27 will serve as a co-record release with dark psych-rockers Drawer Devils and feature performances by From Parts Unknown and Drawer Devils, plus self-proclaimed space vampires Bullet Machine and punk supergroup Blood Letters. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here in advance. The show is ages 18 and up. Three Links is located in Deep Ellum at 2704 Elm St., Dallas, Texas 75226.

From Parts Unknown is a rock and roll trio made up of singer/guitarist Ben McCracken (Chesterfield Kings/The Trusted Few), drummer Kyle Owen (Dying Ground/The Trusted Few) and upright bass guitarist Chris Parrish (Eerie Ln/Sawed Off Sick/Hotrod Hillbillies). The trio formed in Dallas in 2013 and released their debut self-titled album in 2015 before “Bruiser” which came out last year. “Trucker Speed” features three high octane tracks written by the band mates and mixed/mastered by Jim King at Kessler Sound Studios in Oak Cliff. “Our songs have always dealt with sadness and loss through a certain toughness and hopeful optimism, at least as far as the end result is concerned,” said McCracken. “Topics include my father’s death and the harshness of being lonely during the most desolate seasons, albeit summer and winter.”

This release incorporates their shared influences into a cohesive mix of songs that reflect the band members’ diverse musical backgrounds. Collectively, the group pulls inspiration from artists such as Clutch, Primus, The Living End, Lawrence Arms, The Clash and musician Mark Winchester.

“We're an energetic and engaging band that write songs wrought with angst and melody,” said McCracken. “Our music blends punk rock with country, metal, reggae and ska and is filtered through our roots music leanings. We play with our hearts on our sleeves and lay everything on the stage floor, covered in sweat in the end.”

From Parts Unknown’s EP “Trucker Speed will be available for purchase on Friday, April 28 via iTunes and the group’s Bandcamp at https://frompartsunknowntx.bandcamp.com or for streaming on Spotify.
