ROYAL SONS SOAR ONTO THE SCENE WITH PSYCHEDELIC SOUND

The rock band’s debut album, Praise & Warships, heralds the arrival of a can’t-miss talent

(Dallas, October 2018; source: CultureHype) -- Praise & Warships isn’t just the name of their new album-- it’s what fans will be doing when they’re introduced to the music of Royal Sons. Fresh off a truckload of Dallas Observer and Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards, the blues rockers are eager to show fans in Fort Worth and beyond that they have the chops to add even more awards to the mantle. Their debut album is only the beginning of that journey; their sound--a soulful psychedelic blues rock--is what will get them there.

The band will celebrate their debut with an over-the-top album release party on Friday, Oct. 26 at W.E. Scott Theatre in Fort Worth from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Special guests Atlantis Aquarius, Dead Vinyl, and Cody Lynn Boyd are set to perform. The event will also feature fire eaters, aerialists, magic by APMagic, a few surprises by and Master of Ceremonies Victor Trevino Jr., and more. Tickets are $20 in advance or at the door. “Each song is unique to us,” says guitarist Chad Beck. He’s one of the leaders of the group, but each member of the band brings their own unique sets of talents, experiences and perspectives into the fray as they create together. “I bring the ideas to the guys, and we hash it out until it’s a Royal Sons song.”

It’s a group that’s been seasoned and forged through years of experience.

“We all come from diverse backgrounds but ultimately music has been at the core of all of our lives from a very young age,” Beck says. Four of the five Royal Sons--guitarists Beck and Johnny McConlogue, bassist and vocalist Marcus Gonzales and drummer have all honed their crafts and built bonds together over the years as members of the same band or label. Lead vocalist Blake Paris joins the crew from a stint as a front man with the Hanna Barbarians. It’s that bountiful blend of blues talent that makes the band a must-see set--and calls to mind the likes of Black Sabbath and ZZ Top.

Their debut album is a searing, 11-song banger that pays tribute to those great musicians while announcing the arrival of a fierce new talent. “Let It Burn” was an easy pick as the Sons’ first single.

“‘Let It Burn’” is a piece about the fog of war,” Beck says. “It’s about a character that loses himself in the chaos of conflict and questions what, if anything, it’s all worth and how you come back to reality after that kind of shock.”

The track reveals the Sons’ talent for layering heavy themes with heady sounds--a trick that’s about to take DFW by storm.

Praise & Warships will be available for streaming on Spotify and purchase on iTunes on Friday, Oct. 26. For more information about Royal Sons or to pre-order a limited edition vinyl, pressed at the state-of-the-art Hand Drawn Pressing facility, click here.
