SYDNEY ANDERSON'S EP PROVES SHE AIN'T NO "FOOL"

The rising pop-country star's debut is a soulful blend of Texas and Nashville

(DALLAS, August 2018; source: CultureHype) - Sydney Anderson has been melting hearts since she was eight years old. As a child, the soulful country crooner wowed crowds with heartrending renditions of tunes like “Leavin’ On Your Mind.” But leaving will be the last thing on music fans’ minds, as Anderson prepares to release her self-titled debut EP on Friday, Sept. 14. The record is a searing blend of Texas and Nashville country that announces the pop-country artist as a force to be reckoned with on the Dallas music scene.

Anderson began honing her sound the first time she tried imitating Patsy Cline. Her grandfather handed her a cassette of Cline’s greatest hits, and told her she’d wind up in Nashville in no time if she learned to play like her idol. Soon enough, Sydney was jamming on well-known honky tonk stages like Tootsies and The Stage, and parlayed that into a gig alongside Demi Lovato and an appearance on Oxygen’s The Glee Project. Through it all, she’s developed a style that calls to mind Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes and Miranda Lambert. Her debut EP focuses on many of the themes that her predecessors pursued in their work, too. It’s a six-song record that Anderson co-wrote with regular writing partner Zach Balch, and tracked at Spaceway Productions in Fort Worth and Flint Creek Records in Dallas.

“Choosing Yourself” is really the accidental theme of the EP,” Anderson says. “When we first started writing it, I had ended a relationship because my dreams and my goals were worth more to me than the relationship I was in.”

The record finds Anderson searching for meaning through love, but ultimately finding solace in the ones who’ve been there for her all along.

“You can tell from the lyrics that I’ve gone through a breakup or two since the start of the record, but finally found my peace in faith, family and friends, which is what the song ‘Sweet Escape’ is all about,” she says.

The EP will undoubtedly be a “Sweet Escape” for all lovers of pop and country--and an introduction to a blazing new talent.

“[T]he EP is about the power of self, finding worth internally and Anderson’s independence as a woman.”
